World’s Strongest Man

Est. 1977
The World’s Strongest Man (WSM) is an annual international competition that brings together elite strength athletes from around the globe to compete in a series of extreme physical challenges. Founded in 1977, the event has become the premier showcase of human strength and endurance, testing competitors in events such as the Atlas Stones, Truck Pull, Deadlift, and Loading Races. Unlike traditional powerlifting or Olympic lifting, WSM events are designed to push athletes to their physical and mental limits using unconventional and often massive implements that reflect real-world strength.

The competition typically spans multiple days and features qualifying heats followed by a final round, with athletes earning points across a variety of events. Each event challenges different attributes—brute force, grip, speed, endurance, and strategy—making the winner the most well-rounded strongman, not just the strongest in a single lift. Broadcast worldwide and attracting millions of viewers, WSM has helped elevate the sport of strongman and produced legends like Mariusz Pudzianowski, Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson, and Tom Stoltman.
