Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson is an Icelandic strongman, actor, and former basketball player best known for playing “The Mountain” in Game of Thrones. He made history in 2018 by winning the Arnold Strongman Classic, Europe’s Strongest Man, and World’s Strongest Man all in the same year. In 2020, he set the all-time deadlift world record at 501 kg before briefly retiring to pursue a boxing career, including a high-profile win over Eddie Hall. Hafthor returned to strongman in 2024, earning podium finishes at the Shaw Classic and Rogue Invitational.
