Active in strongman from 1995 to 2008, Hugo Girard was a dominant competitor in international events. He finished 6th at World’s Strongest Man in 1999 and 4th in 2004. Girard won the IFSA World Strongman Challenge in 2002 and captured six Canada’s Strongest Man titles between 1999 and 2004. His lifting records include a 410 kg (904 lb) deadlift at the 2003 IFSA World Championships, and he was known for exceptional performances in the log press and vehicle pull events.
