Active in strongman from 2002 until his death in 2007, Jesse Marunde was a prominent competitor on the international stage. He finished 2nd at the 2005 World’s Strongest Man and placed 7th in 2006. Marunde set a personal best in the deadlift with 409 kg (902 lbs) at the 2006 Arnold Strongman Classic. He was known for his exceptional grip strength, notably winning the Rolling Thunder World Championships in 2002.
